It’s My Birthday!!

It’s my birthday!!!!!!!!

I am OFFICIALLY 24 years old. Crazy, right?!? I feel super blessed and thrilled that God has privileged me to arrive to this point of my life. I know 24 isn’t a lot, but I know classmates who've died, gotten super sick, or experienced some other type of misfortune that prevented them from experiencing a 24th birthday. So,  I’m grateful! Seriously!

The funny thing about my birthday is that it ALWAYS falls within some huge event at my church. It annoyed the crap out of me! No, seriously! Ever since I can remember I have been forced to share my birthday with a conference, a rehearsal, or some kind of special service/event at church...and my parents are the “first ones there, last ones to leave” type of people. So, naturally, I was always doing something church-related on my birthday!

This year was NO different. The days leading up to my birthday were filled with YET another conference that I worked...(and sweat-sang through...you know, when you sing and move so hard that ya makeup melts off...yeah THAT.)

On top of that, my birthday landed....what do you know...on a Sunday...and it wasn’t just any kind of Sunday. It was Founders’ Day, one of THE most important days of my church, and I worked through that, including another Sweat-sang episode.

Yeah.

This year was different, though. I had a completely different mindset...and dare I say a “revelation” about my life’s purpose.
It became clear to me that the divine placement of my birthday, specifically its alignment with MAJOR church events, is indicative of my life’s purpose. My main reason for living...my main reason for my existence...is to put myself aside and work in the kingdom, serve His people, and exalt Him.

That’s my life!

...and JUST like God, for 24 birthdays, he’s allowed me to unknowingly get a peek into the reason behind my very existence.

WOW!! How AMAZING is that?!?!

In all actuality, I got to do everything I love today....sing, serve, talk about my Bishop & First Lady, worship God, and be with my fam (and eat some REALLY bomb sweet potatoes and loaded potato salad with the RED potatoes...yes!).

It was BOMB...for more reasons than I can ever articulate and I’m SOOOOOO very grateful for this “A-Ha” moment and I can’t wait to see what my “Kobe” year consists of!!
